News and Events from Lawton, OK
The Cameron University Black Students Association (BSA) has announced events in celebration of Black History Month.
No admission will be charged for any of the events.
A “Boys to Men Conference” is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Ballroom of the Shepler Center at Cameron.
“These sessions will feature young men who have active roles in the community,” said Jalyn Yarbrough, president of the BSA. “This year’s sessions will be based on the theme “‘Motivate, Inspire and Empower.'”
Yarbrough said the conference is similar to the Black Girls Rock event that the Miss Black CU pageant contestants host every year.
“This event is to focus on our young men in the community, motivating and encouraging them to dream big and achieve their goals,” Yarbrough said. “This event is open to all young men ages 5-18 and their families. Lunch will be served after the last session.”
At 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 the BSA will bring Part 3 of the Black America Series, “State of the Black Student,” in Room 211 of the McMahon Centennial Complex.
