Lake Lawtonka Beach Bash & Movie Night

August 5, 2016 @ 4:00 pm

$5.00

A HISTORIC EVENT, YES A FIRST IN LAWTONS HISTORY…

Come to Lake Lawtonka ‘Day Use Area’, 5 August 2016, 4 pm until 12 pm, or until the movie is over, and enjoy a family fun day, concert, and PAINT party (Atlanta Special FX has donated 250 Gallons of the paint that we will be using to cover everyone with color who comes out to support the Beach Bash.), while we wait for the sun to set, where we will shift gears and play the movie ‘JAWS’, sponsored by J&J Burk, for everyone to enjoy.

The cost is only $5.00 per person 13 and over, 12 and under get in FREE. Bring the whole family.

All proceeds go directly towards the Lawton Police Department, Lawton Fire Department, Lawton Animal Welfare, and Fix Lawton.

This is the LAST EVENT you can do in Lawton before School Starts, so YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WANT TO MISS THIS.

What is involved with the Beach Bash?
We will be having a Paint Party, which is based on music and water soluble paint being sprayed on you, which if you have never been to one of these, you are really missing out, and if you LIKE Color Runs YOU ARE GOING to LOVE this.

The music is being provided by ‘Vibe Tribe Entertainment’and the Paint is sponsored byAtlanta Special FX. Vibe Tribe keeps the crowd hopping on their feet the whole time they are on the stage.

What movie are you showing?
Just for an FYI. We were going to show Lake Placid, but we cannot rent that one for this event.

We are going to be showing ‘JAWS’ but with a twist. Everyone knows because of the recent alligator sighting here in Lawton, that there has been talk of the ‘Lake Lawtonka Monster’ which swims in Lake Lawtonka itself, so we will be having three movie screens, two which will be on the Beach and one, which you must be in the water to view the movie, this is only for the most DARING of people. Can you be in Lake Lawtonka and watch JAWS? Only time will tell.

What else will be there?
We will have several Food Trucks (we will update the list as they sign up) on hand for all of your needs, the LFD Safe House, Hazmat Truck, Lake Patrol, Uniformed Officers, Animal Welfare Truck and static display, and come meet the #GoGrapes Team, as well as KLAW 101, Seth Coburn, who will be doing a ‘Live Remote’ from 4-6 PM, and Indie Michaels, from Magic 95-Today’s Best Music, will be doing a ‘Live Remote’ from 3-5 PM.

Why are you raising money for each of these?

Lawton Police Department has three new, K-9’s, added to the force, who DO NOT HAVE BULLET PROOF VESTS. With the recent outbreaks of violence towards our ‘Boys in Blue’ we know that as a community we can purchase these three K9 Officers their vests, potentially ‘Saving Lives’ while on duty. These vests are Bullet Proof, as well as knife proof, with a cost of upwards over $1,000.00 each.

Lawton Fire Department responds to hundreds, if not thousands, of structure fires, where they use a set of O2 masks designed specifically for animals, which are needed on ALL calls where any animal are involved, and need immediate medical attention. The last set we donated them was over 10 years ago, and are in dire need of replacement. We are attempting to raise enough funds to purchase 9 complete sets, sizes ranging from Kitten size all the way up to an XL Dog size, such as a Mastiff. If you own a pet and heaven forbid have a house fire, you will really appreciate the fact that there will now be a new set in every single firehouse and going out on every single call.
LFD will have their ‘Safe House’ on hand as well as their Hazmat truck on display.

Lawton Animal Welfare still has really old ‘Wire Cages’ which house the stray cat population, almost 2,000 cats last year alone, that came through our shelter and they need to be replaced with up to date ones. The industry standard is all stainless steel, with flat bottoms, which are more sterile and more comfortable for the cats. We are going to attempt to replace ALL of these cages, and make an immediate and dramatic improvement and impact within the living conditions of these stray cats, while they are waiting to be adopted.

Fix Lawton, introduced SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program), where they offer assistance, in the form of FREE SPAY / NEUTER of Cats and Dogs, ranging in age from 6 Months to 6 Years old, to those who cannot afford it, which prevents unwanted litters. Did you know that 50% of all litters born in the United States are unplanned? On 19 March 2016 Fix Lawton held its first SNAP event and was expecting 100 animals to show up. Over 350 people showed up with their animals trying to get them FIXED. This in itself shows the demand and need for this program.

Issues have been identified and we can complain and gripe that these things aren’t funded, or that the economy is currently down, or we can come up with ‘Solutions’ and come together, as a community, and become the ‘SOLUTION’

Lawtonian’s Helping Lawtonian’s.

BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM.
