DESCRIPTION:2015 “One to Six” \n$900 Art Purchase Competition \nDeadline Friday\, Nov 6\, 2015 by 5pm \nNo entry fee\, submit your artwork! \n(Lawton\, OK) There is an open call for artwork to be considered for the “One to Six” Art Purchase Award. The Lawton Arts & Humanities Council’s Program Committee serves as jury to make recommendations to the Council for this purchase of six pieces of artwork from one artist. The artwork in turn is presented to the six people who win the 2015 Cultural Awards. \nThe award is $900.00 for the six pieces. The theme is open but should be appropriate to the Cultural Awards. All artists are eligible with only six (6) works allowed per artists. There is no entry fee! \nPast artists recipients of the “One to Six” have been Santos Rubio\, Tom Biggs\, Patty Ferguson\, Myron Beeson\, Cynthia Clay\, David Gill\, Katherine Liontas\, Eva Yeahquo-Williams\, and John Hernandez just to name a few! City of Lawton and the Lawton Arts & Humanities Council sponsor this art purchase award. DESCRIPTION:2015 Cultural Award Nomination Forms Now Online – Click on Title for nomination form – Due November 6\, 2015 by 5pm \n(Lawton\, OK) Do you know someone who has made outstanding contributions in the arts and/or humanities in Lawton and the surrounding cities? Perhaps it is an “unsung” arts and/or humanities angel who has contributed to the quality of life in Comanche County. The City of Lawton and the Lawton Arts & Humanities Council (LAHC) are accepting nominations for the 2015 Cultural Awards. These awards honor artists\, educators\, businesses/organizations\, and citizens who have made a difference in our community. The awards will be given at the “2016 Arts for All” luncheon. The deadline is November 6\, 2015. Any individual or organization may submit nominations for the six categories. \nThe first person to accept the award in 1971 was Mrs. Roma Clift Montgomery. Her selfless acts in supporting the arts\, humanities\, artists\, educators\, and students are legendary. SUMMARY:Cameron University Percussion Ensemble and Pan Express Take the Stage
DESCRIPTION:Cameron University Percussion Ensemble and Pan Express Take the Stage \nThe Cameron University Percussion Ensemble (CUPE) and the CU Pan Express\, Cameron’s steel drum ensemble\, will take the stage for a lively concert on Thursday\, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre.  Admission is $10 for adults\, $5 for students. Cameron University faculty\, students and staff will be admitted free with proper identification. A reception hosted by Friends of Cameron Percussion will occur immediately following the concert. \n  \nCUPE is conducted by Dr. James Lambert\, Professor of Music\, and includes both percussion majors and non-majors. Current members are Lorenzo Butler\, Peter Macias\, Britnie Mendenhall\, Tyler Pollock\, Noah Polynice\, Lawton; Jake Downing\, Poteau; Gus Echols\,Duncan; Lilah Gilmore\, Iowa Park\, Texas; Paul Martin\, Cache; and Tyler Reeves\, Denton\, Texas. \n  \nThe concert will feature “Layers” by Lynn Glassock; “Recuerdos de Alhambra” and “Trot en Guelga\,” two Guatemalan marimba ensemble compositions arranged by Dr. David Vincent; “Catching Shadows\,” a marimba duet by Ivan Trevino featuring Reeves and Gilmore; the fourth movement from Ney Rosauro’s “Concerto for Marimba  and Percussion Ensemble\,” featuring  Gilmore as marimba soloist; \nRodgers & Hammerstein’s timeless “Hello\, Young Lovers\,” arranged for percussion ensemble by Rolando Morales-Matos and featuring Echols on vibraphone; and “Suite for Solo Drumset” by David Mancini\, featuring Reeves on drumset.
